To all of you who took the time to write letters, send e-mails and attend the hearings, I thank you very much. It did help in the final analysis. Although the PFMC did change their own recommendation for In-River Sports fall Chinook salmon quota from 12,800 to 10,600 it left enough fish for the In-River Sports fishing to have a very good Fall Salmon season. The same thing for the Ca. Fish & Game Commission in that they agreed to the daily bag of; 2-adults and 1-jack per day with a total of 12 Chinook salmon in 7-days, no more than 4-adults in that 7-day period. They also passed 5-Germen Brown Trout per day with 10 in possession, 1-Hatchery Steelhead or 1-hatchery trout in possession. Believe me this is a very liberal bag and possession limit for the Trinity River compared to years past. Now all you fishers that have to travel such a long distance to fish the Trinity will be able to take home a fish or two for your efforts. The Fish & Game Commission also returned the bag limit for Spring Chinook to 1-adult, 2-jacks per day with a bag limit of 2-adults in 7-days, starting January 2007.

The Spring Run Chinook are down at the mouth of the Klamath now and should be here in Willow Creek right after the spring flows meet their peak.
Now for the other news, The Trinity River will have its’ Spring Water Flows Start April 27th. BOR will increase the water flows from 300cfs up to 4,500cfs by May 1st, the peak flows will last for five days at which time a gradual reduction of the water flows down to 450cfs will be reached by June 25th. The normal summer water flow of 450cfs will continue to October 15th. There will be a 3-day pulse of 1,600cfs in late August for the Tribal Boat Dance this summer, the full moon or harvest moon, as some of you may call it, is on August 28th. That might be a date you want to keep in mind as the fall run starts to head up-river right about that time.

It does pay for us to present our problems to the regulation makers in a proper forum. If we speak as a united group we do get heard. The thing we now have to do is organize and start an e-mail notification system to get the word out when help is needed. For all of you that want to participate let men know and send me your e-mail address. There are several people out there that are willing to help us get organized and we the guides and business owners that want better fishing conditions and regulations now is our time. They have heard us and will work with us when we stand united. For those that don't know me I am a fishing guide and reporter that lobbied for the quota and regulations that the Fish & Game Commission just passed and to the PFMC for better IN-River Quotas.

Good Fish’en ------ Good Luck and remember: “Keep your Tip up and a tight line lands fish!”
